What is Rainforest Wild Honey Natural Floral Fragrance Primitive Forest Honey from Chinese Bee?
Originating from the native Chinese bee species known as the small black bee, this honey comes from the coffee forests and tropical rainforests in the Menglian area of Pu'er, Yunnan.
The bees forage on wild white flowers and other wildflowers found in these forests.
The Wa ethnic group in Menglian is known for their sincerity and meticulousness, and they have higher standards when it comes to natural products compared to us city-dwellers who have been raised on industrialized products.
In addition to the pristine natural environment without industrial pollution or significant human intervention, they specifically avoid rubber plantations when searching for honey because rubber trees have slight toxicity.
They also pay special attention to the timing of honey collection.
Once the rainy season begins, the quality of honey significantly decreases, and they do not want such honey.
Underneath coffee trees, bees happily come to build nests and collect nectar, while villagers passing by don't pay much attention or simply set up small tree trunks for the bees.
It is not until a certain time, often before the excessive blooming of flowers in spring and before the onset of the rainy season, that the bees seal their hives, and villagers then harvest some honeycomb, leaving behind a portion for the bees' survival.
Alternatively, before the rainy season, villagers go up the mountain and into the rainforest, searching for small stick-like beehives high up in the tall trees. They bring the entire hive back home.
Throughout this entire process, there is no artificial nest construction, no artificial breeding, no artificial sugar feeding, and no trace of any artificial intervention.
The bees themselves endure all the harsh challenges imposed by nature, becoming even stronger and braver as they produce exquisite honey. In other words, we are merely the laborers of nature.
Why the Wild honey from tropical rainforests standing out?
Wild honey from tropical rainforests is more expensive than usual honey produced through farming, not to mention concentrated or industrial honey.
Firstly, this is because it is naturally scarce. Wild honey from tropical rainforests can only be harvested for one month each year (in April). It is naturally raised and impossible to control its production artificially. The small bees face many natural enemies, such as wasps and birds, as well as various natural disasters. Every drop of honey is hard-won, and it is difficult to find due to the rugged mountain roads and harsh rainforest environment.
Secondly, it is inherently expensive. This batch of honey was collected for me by reputable locals. Originally, they were fellow villagers of a minority ethnic group who were farmers. During the honey harvesting season, they would go up the mountains to collect honey and earn some extra income, relying purely on luck to determine how much they could collect. For these villagers, the effort they put in is significant and this income is also important to them.
Thirdly, the quality of the honey is exceptional. It's not an exaggeration to say that this is the best honey I have ever encountered in my life. Initially, after passing through the initial filtration process, it is a flowing golden thick liquid.
However, after experiencing several rounds of rainfall and temperature drops, the honey rapidly crystallizes into an exceptionally smooth and delicate pale yellow solid. It has a texture similar to lard. When you scoop a bit with your finger and put it in your mouth, the unique floral and fruity aroma of the tropical rainforest bursts open, melting instantly and offering a sweet and soft sensation that feels almost like an illusion.
